I've heard of some binding problems with the severe angle of the steering column U joints. Also do a search of the archives here. Use the Search link on this page, upper right. I changed my car over to a big block recently, and could not get the Steeroids unit to fit around my headers, so I had to pull it out and buy all new stock style gear (because I threw all of the old stuff out! Duh!). It is a pretty trick little unit, the rack itsef comes out of a later model Grand Prix type car. They add a bracket to hold it on the front subframe, some spherical rod ends to mate the stock tie rods to the Camaro steering arms, and the steering linkage which consists of two really nice Flaming River couplers and a bar. One of the hoses that they sent on my power steer kit had the wrong end on it (male versus female), so I had to have a new hose built, $60. I had limited driving time with my unit, only a couple miles actually, but it did offer really fast steering ratio. Installation was really easy, not too hard at all. I would like to have used it, but the big block is just too big. I still have the unit, and I am willing to sell it for less than the new ones go for. E-mail me if you're interested or would like some more specific feedback. Mark ------------------ 69 SS, Stroker 489, Tremec TKO, Tight Road Suspension |
