Well i so far have most of what i was looking at for my engine and stuff. But i noticed that global west is selling the Tubular Upper Control Arms seperatly from the Negative Roll System package they sell. Is this the part that gives the same results as the Guldstrand modification? Thanks for the info.

I doubt it.
They probably require less shims to achieve performance alignment. They may have a redrill template like Guldstrand does, I don't know about that part...

I have not specifically checked the geometry on mine, relative to the original ones, but I think they are mainly focused at being able to adjust caster. They don't give you a template for the Gulstrand mod, so you'll have to dig one off of the net. One nice benefit is that you don't have to cut done the frame mount if you do the Gulstrand mod, because there is total clearance there on the new arms.

I don't think the geometry relative to camber is different, because I saw in their website that you could get the arms with offset "spindles." I have a big block, and though I have not had my car completely aligned yet, it does not appear that I have any clearance issues. They are really nice arms, but be prepared to wait a long time for them to arrive, even if they say they're in stock....

BTW, I might have Caster confused with Camber, I think caster is the adjustment of the top of the spindle wrt to the long axis of the car, and camber is the adjustment directly towards/away from the engine. I can never keep them straight. Pardon me if I goofed.

David, I believe you are correct.

Torker and I talked to Doug for a while at the Super Chevy show in Pomona. Seems the primary "fix" for the upper arms is to allow 5*-6* caster. Torker gets that much out of the stock arms using longer 1/2" frame studs and a lot of shims.

The new GW offset upper cross-shafts are super nice.

Their lower arms are also really nice, but weigh double that of a stock arm when measured on our subjective right-arm measurement device. I'm concerned also about them having too much rigidity. In a three-way argument between the curb, lower arm, and frame, the frame would lose.

Do you do the Guldstrand mod with the GW arms? Has anyone asked them about this?

I'm currently debating whether or not to replace the sub frame on my 69 before I weld it onto my connectors. I was barely able to get the camber set and I noticed that the a-arm bolts are welded into the mounts (where they often get "wallered" out. And the crossmember under the oil pan is bent upwards from floor jacks being put under it wrong.

David, what is your take on this?

CarlC, did you see the new add for the upper and lower kit at super chevy? Thats my orange 69 on it.

You don't need to do the mod for the a arms

The upper arms weigh 1 pound less than stock and the lowers are the same as stock. You don't need the gould. mod because the upper arms change the geometry and give you more adjustment than stock without all the shims. They are also A LOT stronger than stock.

jenndon,

I didn't see the add. Was that your orange '69 car that was near the pedestrian entrance? It had the GW parts on it.

That's very cool that your car was used for the add!

Torker and I lifted the lower GW and a stock arm that were out on display. The GW seemed much heavier, but a scale is really the only way to find out. The GW parts are really nice.

I can see the benefit of the upper A-arms but what is the benefit of the offset shafts?
