I was wondering if any one knows why 67/68 camaros, used 2 differnet size calipers? There was small bore and big bore 4 piston calipers. I am not talking about the JL8 stuff. The small bore front 4 piston calipers use a 1.825 piston, and the big bore front 4 piston calipers use a 2.010 piston. Whats the deal? Thanks in Advance.

i've been wondering that myself.
actually, i thought the camaros got the 1 7/8 calipers both years, and the 'bird got the big bore in '68, but that's because i'm a bird lover.
i was thinking maybe having the bigger caliper pistons with the same master cylinder bore would give a slightly more controlled pedal feel. as in, you have a little more pedal travel, therefore more choices of where in that travel you want your foot.
does that make sense? or am i thinking bass-ackwards?

different suspension or wheel/tire combos might have dictated which calipers got used, or even small block vs. big block.
hell, maybe if you got certain options you got better brakes- maybe AC cars had different brakes than non AC cars for whatever reason.

on the bird, at least, i'm pretty sure it was strictly a 67/68 difference.
but then again, all pontiac v8s are big blocks.
i dont know if you could get disc brakes with the OHC 6, but i dont see why not.
