i know the 69 single piston brake rotor is supposed to have a larger hub diameter than the 67-68 4 piston brake. my question is, can i use the 69 rotor if i machine down the hub to make clearence for the caliper? is the outside rotor diameter the same?

if not, does anyone know a good place to get the correct rotors for around the same price? everywhere i check, they list the same rotor # for 67-69 except in specialty catalogs where they want an arm and two legs.

or maybe they all list the same rotor because it's got the small hub, and works with the later ones?

The two piece rotor was used in 69 but not needed for clearance since 69 used the single piston caliper.
The 67/69 rotor listed should clear the four piston caliper used in 67/68.

Nova 70-74 used a single piston caliper and if the part number they list for that application is different than the early Camaro then I'd assume the Camaro rotor has the smaller hub.

thanks david. the nova rotors i see on the autozone site have the same part #5514 as the 67-69 camaro/firebird. they do list different calipers for the 67-68 vs. the 69, so hopefully they know what they're doing. another site i looked at had single piston caliper specified for all 67-69 F body rotors.

i guess if it doesnt clear i will make it do so. i dont have these brakes yet, so dont know their condition, but they are coming off a 67 'bird and going on a '68 bird. i want to keep the 4 piston setup if i can. i am not going for #'s matching, but would like to keep it mostly stock.

BTW nice website. i use it for reference often, and have reccommended it to others.

If the Nova part number is the same, I'd say it's a large hub rotor, and won't fit your four piston brakes.
I'd buy locally and make sure the rotor is small enough hub to clear.
I doubt you can carve enough off the stock disc hub to clear, so make sure you have the correct part.
