I installed my old saginaw pump out of my 68camaro into my 78 chevy truck today since the truck pump was going bad. The camaro pump had been rebuilt by Lee manufacturing some time back and worked fine when I pulled it out. The bracket worked etc and I used the camaro pressure line. Anyway I started the truck up and pump foams and overflows like a fountain through the cap hole when motor is shut down while whining while running. return line is new also, Everything should work fine the key word being should . Any ideas, possible return problem? Thanks, SS

Did you first manually deairate the system before starting your engine? You need to get most of the air out of the power steering lines and out of the gear by jacking up the front wheels and turning the steering wheel lock to lock about a dozen times. The check the fluid level in your reservoir and refill.

Turn the steering wheel lock to lock again several more times. Again, check the fluid level and refill if necessary. You should have removed most of the air by this manual method. Now start your engine.
