: swapping combination valves

I'm doing my swap from disc to drum and I'm almost done, all I need to do is hook up the hard lines from the m/c to the cobination vavle, bleed the systm and I'm done. I'm having problems getting the proper fittings for the swap. The line in the front of the c/v needed to be stepped up, I got a fittng for that and it's fine. The line on the right had side of the c/v was the same size but needed to be bent back some, that should be o.k. The oulet in the front of the m/c is different than the one in the rear but they both use 1/4" line where as on the drum set up, only the rear used 1/4" line. I got the correct fitting for the rear of the m/c to the c/v. On the drum c/v the line that goes to the rear brakes is 1/4" and the disc c/v accepts the smaller line ( I can't remember the exact size) so somehow I need to go from the 1/4" line to the smaller size line, which I think will be my biggest problem. Anyway it should be doable I just need to look a little harder for the parts, it seems like the close parts stores around hear are out of alot of fittings. I'll be glad when it's done, I did'nt know that so much had to be changed. I should sue G.M. for not putting disc brakes on this car from the factory.

The combination valve is used with later 70's cars and perhaps the 70's master cyls would have the right size ports for it.
You might look for an adapter fitting that would come out of your master cyl and accept the smaller line-3/16"
Or there are flare nuts that have a smaller hole in them that would take the smaller line and still screw into the master cyl. I think the tapered seat in the master cyl has a small enough hole so this would work.
If the tapered seat has too small a hole to seal to the smaller tube size, you'll have to use an adapter.

This is why I'm not an auto mechanic, I try to rush things and get it wrong and then I have to redo it. I turns out I intalled the combination valve backwards and I only needed to change one fitting, like I had read before but I thought mine was different for some reason. I knew something was wrong when I went to bleed the right front caliper and the fluid went down in the rear resevior. Oh well I got it figured out now, I think.

I got everything sorted out and the brakes work great, thanks for all the help.

Cool,
I was wondering if you were going to make it!

Give the rotors an easy brake in.
