: power steering cooler set up?

I have purchased a cooler, finned alum tube just like the twister from DSE, and a small style race pump with remote reservoir. I need to know which way to plumb the lines correctly, in other words should pressure side go to the cooler or return, prior or after reservoir. Lee built the box 12.7:1 with 35lb valve and they had me add a filter on the return side which I would like to also continue to use. I am also using a canton road race pulley which is nose driven and will slow the pump down. Will I have problems pushing fluid through the addtional distance other than added input at slow speeds? I Would like to retain the feel of old set up? Any info especially hose routing, would be appreciated, thanks SS.

railing, Don't know if this helps you but on a stock GM with a PS cooler the high pressure side of the pump goes through the steering gear first, then the return line (low pressure) comes out of steering gear through the power steering cooler. A filter in the return line shouldn't hurt you.

Yup.

Pump, steering box, filter then cooler. You shouldnt have problems moving fluid, but at lower pump speeds the steering will most likely 'chatter' from not having enough presure at the lower speeds. This primarily depends on HOW much the pump is under driven. You might experience this and you might not.

You might want to call Tom and ask him for his input on the pulley ratio/pressure issue and lets us know. There are a lot of Cats on this site that are considering the 12.7:1 box and would appreciate your/Tom's input on the pulley/pressure issue.

I take it by your statement of being 'nose driven' you are running the pump off of the H2 pump?

As far as the nose drive goes it is off the crank which is a small secondary pulley, nose drive was probably incorrect term. here is a link www.cantonracingproducts.com/pu_source/short_roadrace.html (http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/pu_source/short_roadrace.html) I don't know who Tom is, but I previously had the filter on the return side and wanted to run stainless lines to reservoir and cooler with return to pump.
