My 67 camaro has a single leaf rear spring but the car sits real crooked. I want to stay with the single leaf but I would like it lowered a bit. Who sells lowered single spring leafs?

Hotchkis and DSE are your prime providers.

John Hotchkis (http://www.hotchkis.net/secure_index.html)

Detroit Speed and Engineering (http://www.detroitspeed.com/)

It appears that both companies only offer mult-leaf springs! Unless their web site doesnt show them....

Oh yeah, you did say you wanted to stay with mono's.

Try this:

Landrum Spring (http://www.landrumsprings.com/racing/mono.html)

the Hotchkis spring is three leaf and with the addition of a top spacer, will fit on a mono leaf Camaro. The spring will control wheel hop and handle better than the mono-leaf, if you want an improvement of that sort.

Matt,

Are the mono's you sell double tapered like stock??

Going from a thick, 2.25" wide or so in the middle out to a thin 2.75" wide or so at both ends like stock..

Now why doesn't any one mention EATON Detroit Spring? (http://www.eatonsprings.com/) I'm currently shoping for springs for my convertible and have seen a lot of folks mention Hotchkis and some other brands. I have also seen negative posts refering to other brands, folks not happy with the ride ht.s and adding spacers. I myself, as are others, am very confused. In my case if a supplier is listing the same spring for a convertible as a coupe as a 6 cyl as a Big block, i get a little worried.

I hope this reply generates a little more info.

Just for the record Eaton does reproduce the original leafs to your cars options. I got my 5 leafs from them and they fit like a glove, and very reasonable in price and shipped in less than 10 days. Im very happy with them. Contact Mike or Gary at Eaton
1-313-963-3839 and let them quote you on what your car needs. I recall discussion that they have the original design specs on the Chev. springs.
good luck graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I also bought mine from Eaton. The first set I bought from a spring shop in Cincinnati Oh. and the car sat an inch low on the pass side and had the shocks fully extended. I installed the Eatons and solved all my problems. I talked to Mike and told him what I had and he told me what I needed. The rest is history. graemlins/beers.gif

No. They only have two mono springs, coupe or conv., and they are not tapered as originals are.

PDQ...Our springs are not tapered....They are 2.25 wide. They achieve the lowering by inverting the ends (the leaf comes into the top of the bushing and wraps over to the bottom) they did it this way to acvieve a better ride quality instead of just re-arching a stock type leaf. If anyone needs info Email me I don't wanna get in anymore hot water on here.

Matt,

You won't get in hot water from me..

Richz68,

Please consider that some guy's have broken f/g mono's when you really get to putting it to them. And I think the places that sell them may even have a warning stating not to be used for dragging or with "traction-bars" or on cars above "X" amount of hp??

Do a search on this point to clarify it better if you want..

I think Eaton is an ideal choice for stock replacement, I guess they can make a lowering version too.
For best handling, I think the three leaf design of Hotchkis and Global West are better designs, they have stiffer rates, better traction control with stiffer front half. They also might be a little lighter weight than a five leaf spring.

I like the Guldstrand springs except for the solid bushings he uses. Maybe he's got a different version now.

Vette Brakes sells a three leaf steel spring with flat top center bolt. But I have heard it's not real good at controling wheel hop.

Hello 67,

I ordered my multi leaf springs from Standens here in Calgary. I see that you are just south of us in Utah so this may be an option for you. Standens Springs are the largest manufacture in the West and can make any spring for any car, just not sure about the taper but it's worth caling them and asking. They are great for producing springs to OEM ride heights or custom. Another bonus is that they sell direct as well. Here are a couple of numbers in case you wanna talk to them. Local is (403) 258-7800 and their toll free is 1-800-663-7800 Ask for the sales desk and explain your application, should be a good deal for you, and they build a nice product. Big shop with an excellent reputation in springs. Hope this helps.

Web site is http://www.standens.com Been around since 1920 and they manufacture in a 250,000 square foot facility.
