I recently did some work on my 68,327/4speed dash, and when trying to re-install the speedometer cable on to the speedo unit I noticed the threaded collar to be a little tight. I removed the cable again and noticed the cable was protruding out further than when I first removed it,(about 1/4 to 3/8" from brass squared bead to cable housing). I tried to push the cable by hand back into the cable housing but even after turning and twisting I still cannot get the cable to its original spot. I thought I would remove the other end of the cable assy., (tranny side),to see if I could "seat" the cable from that end, but its a pretty tight squeeze.
Is there something I am overlooking or do I really need to disassemble my shift linkage to reach the tranny side of the speedo cable.
Any short-cut and/or trick would really help,
Thanks,

Yeah, in its "flaccid" form http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif, the two ends of the actual cable should move back and forth freely. Clearly its hung up around a tight bend. You have to find that tight bend to free it up.
