I noticed today after I had installed speed bleeders that the goop for sealing the thread area can get you to think you have sealed off the bleeder but the bleeder isn't seated all the way and the nipple will still pass fluid. That goop on the threads is a little spooky making things kinda feel like you are over tightening.

I hadn't noticed that. However, I have reused speed bleeders before after the goop is gone and the threads don't seal worth a hoot and have let air pack in on my vacuum pump.

I used a brand from an auto parts store. No names right. The goop was gray is all I can tell ya. Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the hazards of taking out the bleeder and reinserting it.
