I continued my thrash on this poor, neglected 69 tonight. I've got the front suspension apart, and I need help identifying the springs.
The part number stamped in the top of each spring is B34PC638. They look new, but would have been new as of 7 to 10 years ago, when the previous, do-nothing owner took possession from my friend.
Anyone have a clue what these are? Thanks in advance!

a Moog 638 coil for 69 is listed for sport coupe convertable With no air. They don't list a BB vert with air in my book, a 1984 issue.
It's a 327 lb spring, pretty soft.

David - Wow, that was quick! 'Course I get its early on the West Coast still.
I guess I'll be doing the 6308's then. I've read through your info, but I can't bring myself to go more than 400 lb/in. The 69 is getting an iron head BB, but I thought the Eibachs in the 68 were too stiff for Pennsylvania potholes at 502 lb/in. Am I crazy thinking 380 lb/in is enough for BB? I won't be road racing.

I was sitting here watching a tape of the Sears Pt NASCAR qualifying when your post came up. ;)
I think a 6308 would be too short for the weight of a BB engine.
6320 is a little taller (.304") and the same 380 rate. But I'm not sure it's tall enough for a BB engine. It's OK for a SB engine.
Do you really need new coils? What's wrong with the ones you have now? How happy are you with them and their stiffness?

Well, the coils that I removed from the 69 are the 327 lb/in springs posted above. My 68 is the one that has the Eibachs at 502 lb/in.
The 69 was originally a 6 cylinder car, but it has small block towers on the subframe, I assume sonewhere along the way it had small block power. When I bought it, it came with a 72 402 that wasn't in the car (guy had big dreams, but less skill, I guess). I decided to run the big block, and I want to make sure the front end is able to handle the load.
I have a 1" Addco bar and a rubber bushing set for the 69 , and now I am just trying to figure out what springs I want. The Hotchkis springs sound way too stiff (600 lb/in?), and like I said, I think the Eibachs are a little harsher than what I'd like, based on the ride of the 68. Of course the 68 also has Energy bushings and subframe bushings, so I'm sure the harshness isn't just springs.
