View Full Version : Hotchkis 2407C Leaf Springs
Mister G Sep 27th, 02, 09:47 AM I need to replace the multi leafs I have on my '67 RS as I have wheel hop galore. Summit has the 2407C's for $353. Before I order these, will it abate my wheel hop? And is the installation pretty straight forward?
Thanks,
Guy
DjD Sep 27th, 02, 10:32 AM I think it's may be a part of the solution but you have to understand that the primary reason the '67 hops so bad is the shock positioning.

davidpozzi Sep 27th, 02, 11:26 AM It should, I used the Guldstrand three leaf for autocross with road race slicks and had no wheel hop with them or street tires on my 67.
The stiffer springs prevent axle wind-up similar to a traction bar but are not as stiff as a traction bar.

Mister G Sep 30th, 02, 09:41 AM Thanks for the input! After reading the problems guys have run into on pulling the old springs off, perhaps I should just get some traction bars to eliminate the hop. Any suggestions?

MarkM Sep 30th, 02, 10:54 AM How much power do you have? What tire are you going to run?
I was getting some wheel hop with mine at the track. But not so much I was worried about breaking anything. I noticed it, but that's about it. I'm running a 275/40 17 drag radial, and a 468 bbc, about 450 hp, 500ft.lb.tq. Best 60' was 1.9.

Mister G Sep 30th, 02, 04:21 PM My HP doesn't come close to yours, it is about 350 at this time. The wheels are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, 245/60SR15's. The leaf springs are 3 leaf. Not sure how old as I just purchased the car this year.

chacane67 Sep 30th, 02, 07:25 PM Hey Mark, a few of us just had thread a on...., well it started on front spring rates, and then we totally got side tracked on the rear leafs. You might want to read over our discussion as we tackeled some questions about wheel hop and other various related subjects. My '67 itself with a fairly aggressive engine makes numbers like you do, and the set-up has eliminated wheelhop and most of the wheel spin.

ALLTHROTTLE&NOBOTTTLE Oct 1st, 02, 02:18 AM I can assure you this spring eliminates or does not create wheel hop on a stock/slightly modified 68'.
My car now has a 12 bolt 4.10 posi and I drive it hard.
Before the swap it had a 4.56 10 bolt posi.
Built TH350, 2800 stall, SBC 331 cid with approx. 375 HP & 375 FT. lbs. Tq.
Nice solid black patches. No squeaks or hop.
I had 5 leafs before & had no hop either though.....
I always try to change one thing at a time to see what works.
I put on the Hotchkis 1.5" lowering springs, PST Polygraphite bushings & perch pads.
I put back on the same tires and shocks.
Sweet package & would DEFINATELY recommend.
As far as the spring install, each car varies. Depends where its from, driven in the weather etc.
I used PB blaster on all my fastners first and had no problem with everything coming out. Of course it was all loose due to launching with 4.56 gears! http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
