1. how much fluid does a empty power steering box and pump hold?
I installed P/S and had no results. I filled the pump three times and still nothing. I hope the pump is bad rather than the box.

2. I installed P/B and was wondering how much travel you are suppose to have when you press the pedel down?
I am getting about 1 to 2 inches before the brakes bight. Before it bights, I have nothing. Is this an adjustment? I used the bottem hole and thought I didnt have enough peddel so I cut my old non-P/B rod and added it to the length. Why was it so short? Why do they bight so hard?
O.K. more than two questions, sorry.
One last thing - I have been all over David's sight.

I can't find the fluid capacity in my manual. Just fill and run a short time, stop and refill again until it stays full.
If it is a new pump, once it stays full, let it run for a while. I have had pumps not generate proper pressure or any boost until they ran for 10 minutes...

I guess it was assembly grease inside, or the vanes failed to be pushed out to where they were supposed to be.

The PB rod is supposed to lower the pedal to about 4.5" off the floor. There is a metal tab to contact the brake light switch, it bolts to the upper hole on the pedal.

There is no return spring used on the pedal, the master cyl bore should be 1 1/8", the depth of the master cyl hole must match the pushrod coming out of the booster.

The lower hole on the brake pedal has twice the travel of the pushrod compared to the upper hole. The pedal can be lower and still have full travel of the master cyl.

The pushrod from the pedal must have full return to the rear or it will cause erratic brake function and grabbing.

For PS, after you fill it up, cycle the steering lock to lock (but don't force it) several times with the front wheels supsended off the ground. It will help the air purge from the system a bit faster than just driving it.
