I know this proably wont work but I have a complete Hotchkiss suspension and was thinking if Caltracs would work. When I take of hard all I do is light up my tires and the cost of 17's isnt cheap. Would this defeat my cornering ability or not? I built the car to handle but a I would like it to hook up better if I can.
Thanks,
Mike

when super chevy did there first pro touring shoot out years ago i think in 2001 there was an orange camaro that did really well with slammed suspension and cal tracs. have you been to pro-touring.com yet? they have lots of info on rear supensions on first gens. i know alot of people use cal tracs. i plan on running them on my lowered 69 with a 3 inch drop in the rear, also with 17's with nitto drags.

THREE inch drop at the rear? How is that done? I though the standard rear drop was 1.5 inch. To double that? Please, tell me more. Are there any pictures of a three inch rear dropped car around?
Sounds cool.

Detroit speed makes three inch drop leaf springs that are a little more then the Hotchkis leafs.

also check out this thread on pro-touring. It has a lot of info on 2" vs 3" drop springs with pictures.

This pic shows the hotchkis 2" drop fronts and 1 1/2" drop rears and the black car doesn't look that much lower. I have 17" wheels all the way around and it looks like the black car has 18" rears and 17" up front.
If you street drive your car, give how much you drop your car lots of though. Scraping frame rails, oil pans and headers kill the cool factor!!

I agree about the potential drivability issues. I had just never heard about a three inch drop in the rear - it took me by surprise.
The fact is, here in New England where the roads are more than a "little" imperfect, I think I'd stay with a 2 inch max to 1.5 inch minimal rear drop. Fronts are undecided but I'd maintain a minimal rake.
I don't know for sure. I'll research it at Pro-Touring.
Thanks guys.
Rick.
PS: The White Wonder is still looking good.
