Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my manual steering box for my 68 Camaro. I am looking for something that is a direct replacement and does not need alot of parts to do the swap. I have seen several on here for power steering, but fewer for manual. Can somebody point me in the right direction....

Rock auto lists both a standard 3 1/2 turn rebuilt manual box (delco#360516537) and a fast ratio 2 1/2 turn manual (delco#360516509)

In addition, d & r (and probably the other repro houses as well) lists a standard and a fast ratio "Z28" pitman arm.

hope you got really big arms to twist a 2 turn manual box with a big block sitting on it...lol

Try Lee Manufactoring in Simi Valley, Ca. They rebuilt my manual box to a qicker ratio. Sorry at work and don't have thier phone number in front of me.

I am a pretty big guy, 6'4" 240, but it took me awhile to get used to manual steering hahaha...

Now it seems pretty easy, Do you guys recommend I change the pitman arm too? Or just the box?

I ordered my 350 SS/RS back in '66 with the optional fast ratio, manual steering gear box!

It turns about 3.5 turns lock to lock against the A-Arms. It also came with a long Pitman Arm and short bolt-on spindle arms!!

And like already said, with my 14" x 6" CRAGAR deep-dish chrome reverse rims and E-60's on the front, I didn't parallel park it UNLESS that's the only place I could park!!

At speed, I have turned a square corner at up to 45 mph using the throttle and one complete turn of the steering wheel!!! BUT my car at the time was soooo stiff that it would almost skip sideways doing it!!

I got tired of it so now I have power steering for my BB motor I've installed. Just like now I have great big disc brakes instead of my crappy stock 4 wheel drums!!
