The Protect-O-Plate or POP is not attached to the vehicle. It was issued to the original purchaser of the car and sometimes will stay with the car throughout it's life. It was in essence a warranty card that the dealer would "swipe" like a credit card whenever a vehicle would come in for warranty repairs. Many however have been lost or discarded because after the vehicle's intial warranty period the POP was no longer valid and served no further purpose. Until these cars became "collectable" the POP was not an important piece of documentation. Now it serves to further validate the authenticity of the car.
