I needed to change springs after my BB to SB conversion.
So my local parts supplier got me a set of Moog 6312 springs. Put them in and the car is way too high.
So, after the fact, I look around here and see some posts that raises some questions.
First - sight plugs. What sight plugs ?? I need a good description here.
Second - is there a top and bottom of the spring ? I know thats basic but maybe the springs are in reverse.
Third - should I pull them anyway and put in Moog 6308. Toss the 6312 ? Everyone here looks happy with 6308.
This is for a 68 sb without options.
Thanks.

Isn't the 6312 a BB spring?
Sight plugs are the holes at top and maybe bottom? of spring perches. You put the end of your spring covering half the hole.
No you can't put them in upside down at least not the 6308's.
It sounds like you're going to have to go with something other than the 6312's.
You might be able to take the 6312's back even if you painted them (I don't think they would have compreesed too much yet). Just get some paint stripper and strip them. I wouldn't eat $80.00 unless I had to. My 6308's were black so 6312's prob are too. Just paint them black again. It's worth a try.

So,
The sight plug lines up the "left-right" of the spring .. ?
Theres one thing I did wrong then.
Still cant make the car four inches higher.
I think I'll pull the 6312 and put in 6308.

Hey imp
Check out your guestbook. I signed it in May of 03. My ID @ C/D is 4evercamman. smile.gif What did you do about no backup lights.
Yes, the site pretty much sets the spring.
If you are not going to be able to return the 6312's. You might try cutting them to the length of 6308's. Ask D. Pozzi or someone else here that has done it to be sure but you should be able to. Just make sure you cut the end so it matches up with original and cut it cold no heat.

RamJam.
Well, since I needed to replace soooo much sheet metal on the car I kinda picked the parts I liked best.
I wanted the rear lights to be fully functional but did not like the pan reverse lights.
I also removed the side markers too. Used 67 fenders and 67 quarters to make the switch easy.
I figure 67 fenders, quaters + 68 body + 69 hood should still average out to a 68.
