Hi Guys,

I have installed disks on the front of my 68 Camaro. I also have AFR 190 heads with roller rockers. This means that if I use the stock 11" booster, I have about 1/4" of clearance betwen the rocker cover and the booster. I have seen ads for a 8" booster and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of car these came from.

Dan, do you have a big block car? I am pretty sure they make a valve cover with a "slant" in back to clear the booster. Would this maybe work on your car?

Actually the car has a sb 383. It is just that the valve covers that I need to use to clear the roller rockers are taller than stock so they are closer to the booster. A slanted valve cover will not work as the rockers will hit the inside of the cover. I am looking for a booster that has a smaller diameter so I can bypass the clearance problem. I just purchased the 8" booster from Master Power Brakes for my 67 with a big block. I'm not sure if it was from an OEM design or if it's their own, but the unit is brand new, not reman. They had different boosters for different applications, including non-GM cars, so I'm guessing it's their own design. If you want to call them, their number is 888-251-2353.
Just another note, if you call them they will want to know what size of engine and the spec's of your cam. They said the units work best with 16" to 18" of vacuum, but will work down to 12"-14".

Thanks for the infor. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and buy one. I was hopeing to find one that is not quite as expensive. With the Can/US exchange it will probably be more than $550 by the time it hits my doorstep

If you already have the correct master cylinder for a disc/drum setup, then they will sell you just the booster. I bought the booster/mast.cyl assy for just under $300 USD. They told me the booster only was right at $225 USD. You hopefully have a disc/drum prop valve? They also have a website, www.mpbrakes.com (http://www.mpbrakes.com)
