I took apart my calipers today so I could begin converting them over to o-ring seals. (They already have s.s. sleaves.) I noticed one of the sleaves had a nick in it that appears to have been caused when the sleave was being seated in the caliper. It doesn't go very deep, and I don't think the piston seal will ever reach it...but I thought I would ask some who are more knowledgable than I. No problem there. As you said, it is to high in the cylinder to affect ring seal.

Thanks again Kyvox. You have provided me with all the info needed to solve this brake problem. I'll be calling vettebrakes tomorrow to see if they make those o-ring seals in 1 7/8" for camaros.
