Since Mr Pozzi is our moderator, I hope for your input on this. On your( Mr Pozzi's) website you discuss spring rates for 1969 Camaros. I have a Z-28, and am rebuilding the front end as part of a somewhat total restoration. I liked the idea of putting the MOOG # 6308 coil spring in my car for a replacement. I called the local parts house, and basically the guy politely lectured me for about 20 minutes asking why on earth would I want to put 6 cyl springs in my V-8 car.I walked away without buying. He kept asking me " is this guy some expert or something" and I said " well yes he is!". So, I just want to be clear on this- the 6308 is a suitable replacement for a stock 1969 Z-28?

Thanks, Rob

Went thru same ordeal, with mt local parts house.
basically as explained throughout this forum the rate for Moog 6308 is #380 and 6041 is #500 so if you are doing the z28 like I am then you want the 6308. The parts guy doesn't know his head from his !@#. He apparently can't read past the description in the parts catalog, if he could then he would know that the spring rates are where it's at. I believe z28 had a factory 378 or 379 rate? I just got my in the mail. MOog 6308 :D

Thanks for the reply. I found another parts house that agreed with what I was doing- he did'nt care what I was going to use it for as long as it was what I wanted. $80.00 for the pair. Most likely what I will do.

Use the search feature on this page and have a look at past 6308 users posts.
While I haven't used them myself, the guys who have, like them a lot.
The nice thing is, they don't have to be cut or modified. For some reason, the ends of the springs do not line up with the pockets like the other springs. They are a little short from reaching the hole in the spring pocket. They have just split the difference and seated the spring a little short of the hole on each end.

Most people who buy the other moog springs listed are not happy because the front end sits too high. These will sit lower, closer to what most people want these days.
I found the 6308 number by taking a Z/28 spring and using the Moog crossover chart in the back of the catalog. There were several part numbers of Z/28 springs used depending on what year and what options you had. The regular Moog catalog application listings don't even mention springs for a Z/28 and using springs for a regular Camaro are softer than the Z used.

I don't blame the guy for questioning you, they have to believe the catalog over some unknown "expert". They don't want you coming back later with the springs blaming them!

I do see his side, but I think he was wanting me to buy something else/ more expensive. Anyway, I appreciate the responses and the expertise!

They will sit about the same as worn out originals. Here's mine with 6308's... http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RwAcA4QUf9xpa5nxVKEwNtOOpmAxgOyV52VIz*MEigPVkXW4B mBIvSytyXRGmTPeBXWWdwuAYXIKRiI1ROLIxQenSk33lByyCoH n5XJmQvU/camaro.jpg?dc=4675443221375620576
(anybody else getting tired of the same old picture?)

This is one of those sites that makes it tough on you to transfer pics from there website. Go to Cardomain.com and make your own page then you can post pics with no problem.
