Added fluid to my brake system today. Can't get outlet cinched for valve under driver door. Lines are stainless. Several questions, do I really need this valve? Second, what's the specs on the threaded fittings into this valve and what's the size of the line out of this valve?. Considering cutting line and putting new end into valve and installing compression fitting on the cut end. What's the best fitting to cinch two cut lines together?

Do NOT use compression fittings. A union for double flared brake line is what you need to put two standard brake lines together. NAPA has them in different sizes, and they have adapters.

Stainless lines dont like to seal with standard brake flares. Try loosening and then tightening again.

I cant tell you if you need the valve or not. It is designed to reduce pressure to the rear brakes in proportion to the front during hard stops. It was generally used on A/C cars.

I am not sure but I think one or both sides of the valve just take a standard fitting for 1/4" line. 7/16x24.

Looking at the end of the line going into the valve tells me I need a new flare. I want to cut flare off existing stainless line, purchase a new line (regular steel line with flare)from auto parts store, and use fitting to connect nonflared end of new steel line with the other cut nonflared end of existing stainless line. Can this be done? If so, what type fitting should I buy?

All this assumes that the seat in the valve is still good.
