So, I have been reading that a few of you guys are interested in building front subframes for the 1st gen. How has it been coming? any idea on pricing. Original question would be, Does anyone have any experience with the Martz front subframes. I have just gotten mine, yea I know, I will find out soon enough huh. No really, haven't heard much about them. I bought mine for the weight reduction and rack and pinion. Just wondering if any of you had heard or experienced them

A lot of subframes are made for drag racing use which is a bit different from what is needed for handling. Which is mainly torsional stiffness.
Do you have a weight for the subframe with upper and lower A arms and steering?

I have weighed most components but still don't have a stock subframe (bare) weight.
How much weight do they say it saves? I'd like to see if they are right.

The one I bought was the road race package. 3500.00
Yea that is steep I know. I am building my car from the ground up and wanted something a little exotic, or different.
They say 300 lbs. From the looks of it I say their right.
I have the wilwood disc package with aluminum hubs and cross drilled rotors so that also saves a few pounds for the big block. I was just mostly wandering about the handling of the frame. It has a sway bar and the whole nine yards I just haven't been able to track someone down that has used one. Not too smart to buy something w/out an opinion first but hopefully everything will work out

David,

Call Andy Martz up at (814)623-9501 and ask him what the weight savings is. He'd probably be very helpful. pdq67

Teetoe,
Did you get a Martz catalog yet. If not, tell me and I will attempt ta copy the pages of the two subframe assy's they sell and send to you so you can get an idea what they look like. Hopefully they will copy clear enough ta see, but don't know until I try. pdq67

How about the shipping weight of the kit?
Do you have that?
I'm having trouble believing it is that much lighter.

I will get some pics up on the web within a few days, so you can see the installed subframe. No the frame was shipped to the body shop and installed there, He did not keep the shipping box.

Just e-mailed Martz-chassis for the weight of the unit. Did you say that you had the weight of the original. Never weighed one before, but now that you mention it, seems like it would be hard to shed 300lbs off of one. Either way for those of you wanting to see the frame, there are pics on the Martz homepage. WWW.Martzchassis.com (http://WWW.Martzchassis.com)
