How much freeplay is typical for the E brake cable under the car when the E Brake is off? (to the rear of the tension adjustment)

Thanks for the help

I think there won't be any or very little slack, the cables will be held up by the return springs. Just set it so the pedal is tight at about half to three quarters of it's travel.

Thanks for your help David,

Did you see my other post (brake conversion question)? I've still got a slow return on the brake pedal only when the car is running or there is still some vacuum reserve left in the booster. When the reserve is empty the pedal is tight like I think it should be, but in trouble shooting I noticed the white plastic sleeve between the booster in the firewall has a crack/split in it. Is this affecting my pedal return and will it affect braking? Can just the sleeve be replaced or will the whole booster need to be replaced? Also, when the pedal is depressed hard the brake warning light comes on.

David thanks again for your insight.
