: Torque sequence?

I am finally reinstalling the leaf springs on my car and have a question regarding the sequence of tightening all the bolts. The factory service manual says to loosly install (to me that means snug without torque) the shackle bolts, front eye bolts, front eye bracket retaining bolts, shock plate bolts and shock bolts. The next step is to torque all affected bolts while the car is on the ground.

Is this correct? The first time I tightened and torqued everything except the front eye and shackle bolts before putting the car on the ground. Does it really make any difference?

Thanks David, you always have the answers! I often find the chassis service manual to be a little vague on some procedures, especially for a shade tree mechanic like me http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif .
