I have a set of KYB's on my car now but I still get rubbing, I have talked to some friends of mine and they all say I need better shocks. What I gather is I need mor rbound and dampening?
Anyway with all the choices who makes a shock that will really make my Hotchkis suspension shine? I'm not worried about ride anymore but want to bring out the canyon carver I set out to build.
Thanks,
Mike

Most agree that Bilstein shocks are superior performers, especially with the Hotchkis system. Changing shocks may not solve tire rubbing problems unless you are replacing worn out shocks.

I think this is something that convertible owners are plagued with to some degree. My car is lowered 2" front 1 1/2" rear and some driveways pose a problem that can be avoided by angling through instead of going at straight on. This causes the body to flex or twist and my rear tires rub on the inside and if I had the car loaded with people the outsides too. I replaced the 275/40's with 255/45's and have plenty of clearence now on the outside, have no problems on the inside when cornering but they still rub going through driveways at an angle. I may try a 1/8" spacer as the outside will allow that much safely.

I was thinking subframe connectors would help but they work front to back more than side to side. Maybe a rear sway bar for the side to side support (will require a larger front to compensate for the stiffer rear). I have new Koni's all the way around and have tried the heaviest setting and other than making the ride stiffer and bouncier on bad roads it didn't resolve the rub. I don't think shocks will solve your problem...

The roof structure of a coupe really does add a lot to the Camaro. Even the modern 4th gen SS ragtops got 16's and narrower tires than coupes 17's and 275/40's because of the ragtop structure. Ultimately a roll cage would be the best thing for a convertible.

DJD,
Thanks for the insight, my tires rub with 4 people in the car and when I drive hard, its only the rears, I tried a 245 60 15 but it looked like crap so I went back to the 265 50 15 what wheels and back spacing are you using? My fronts work fine they are a 225 50 15 and no probs there. Somedays I reall hate these Cragars. If I cant get the back space I need I guess it will be Torque Thrusts.
Thanks,
Mike

DJD,
I forgot to ask what sizes are you running all the way around and what wheels and back spaces?
Thanks again,
Mike
