I just spent 1/2 hour doing searches on this and only found 1 reference that didn't solve my problem. I bought new 5 leaf multi springs from Ricks to replace my old monos on my 69. When I went to put them in they are too short to fit. Do I need to compress them or what? The multis measure 52.5 inches from eye to eye and the old monos measure 54 inches.

Forgot to mention I bought GM OER multi leaf install kit also, and I'm using the rear spring hangers that came in that kit. Am reusing the front spring mounts.

I just mine in yesterday. I have had mine in and out twice in the last year, so I know how it works. I had to put the backs in the shackles first and then put a floor jcak under the front part of the spring and use the jack to compress the spring and as it compresses obviously it gets longer. Some times there a pain though. I basically had mine compressed pretty far and they just ended up matching the front holes in the spring perch.

Yeah, I got them to go in this afternoon. I did basically the same thing only front first then shackles. Worked fine.
