to replace brakes hoses. or are these not advisable. this is for a '67 with 4-wheel manual drum.

Also, I am considering going with silicone brake fluid (dot 5) as I am replacing the entire system (cylinders, lines, hoses, m/c, etc)

I wouldn't bother with them. They cost a lot of money and you won't be able to tell the difference. Drum brake line pressures are about half of disc pressures.
If they wind up hitting anything, they will fail. They don't flex in twist like the stock hoses do, the brading prevents it. This puts pressure on the ends. Early stainless steel lines were not dot approved.

Thanks. I'll stick with the stock rubber hoses.

Hey David, what about the "Russell" braided stock replacement line sets sold in summit? They sound good and ARE DOT legal for about $70/set.

Austin,
Yes there are some dot legal lines available now. For years they were not DOT approved.
There have been some problems with steel braided lines not lasting as long as the stock stuff.
For any street application, the steel lines are overkill as far as needing them. The second reason for using them is they look cool. Which works for me.
These lines are stiffer in twist, are less forgiving in bend, and must be routed carefully or they will rub other suspension components.
If you are just looking for something reliable for the street, go stock hose.

While I'm talking about hose...
If you have any steel braided fuel line on your car. Be shure and change it every three years. You can't see if it is cracked and about to fail. If it's bent sharp, that is where it will fail first.
I've found the fuel line to last less time than standard auto hose.

As a footnote to the above many people do not realize that the steel braided brake lines are usually constructed using a teflon hose instead of rubber hose. They will not tolerate a tight bend radius like the rubber steel braided hoses.
