I have been playing with my steering,basiclly trying to have a better feel.I bought,what is called a F41 box.I felt it would give more feel,it did,but not enough.I think I'm stuck with replacing the torsion arm in the box.Any ideas? Can I use the one out of a 80's model box?I know the input size is different,but I have a box at the shop from a caprice cop car.I can snag that torsion bar,will it work,in my 68 box?

The size of the steering shaft got smaller in 1980 up. I think the internal parts will fit an older box but not sure what exactly is different.
As far as I know if you are starting with a 69 thru 79 box it's probably a variable ratio box and has much less speed in the center of steering than a constant ratio box.
It can be identified by the deeper center tooth notch on the gear and shaft inside. Pull the top cover and you can see it.
Constant ratio boxes are the same deepth tooth for each tooth.
If you have the variable ratio, it might be better to swap a later third gen camaro box into your 68.
The IROC had the stiffest feel and torsion bar. The Firebird TA with 16" wheels would have it too. The third gen Z/28 would have a bit easier steering, more like a late 70's Z/28 or TA.

The company who sold me the box told me it is not a variable ratio.It sure is quick,even in the center.I will give their tech line a call to find out if the old and new torsion bars are interchangable.The guy on the tech line is pretty sharp.I've been calling him for about 4 years,and he's still there.Pretty amazing,usually a companys tech line is maned by whoever is avalable.Thanks.
