I have been reading the Q & A's on this site
for the last few weeks; you all are full of
information. This is my first post. I have a
1968 Camaro that I have owned for nine years.
It's been through 3 engines & 2 transmissions
during that time (currently has 1996 vortec
truck motor with 700R4 trans). I've had almost everything off of this car at one time or another. Can someone tell me how to remove the cig. lighter housing ? I don't see any kind of clip holding it in & I can't figure how to get it out. Thanks for your help.

It is threaded in. It is easier to get to if your speedo/fuel guage bezel was removed but you can reach under and loosen with your fingers turning counter clockwise.

Thanks camaroguy. I had already taken the bezel out, and I tried turning it with my
hand but it wouldn't move much. I have seen
the types of housings that have a cover that
goes over the element with a threaded part in
the back, but this one doesn't look like that. It has straight grooves that run the length of it. There is also what looks like
a separate piece pressed on the back of the
housing. I'll take another look at it this
evening, I may need to use some pliers on it.
I didn't want to get to carried away & screw
up my dash.

I had a few 67's that had terrible corrosion and resorted to the pliers technique as well.
