My 69 has stock front discs and rear drums on 15" wheels. I just replaced all of the stock valves(hold back, pressure regulator and brake switch) with a combination valve from master power brakes. My engine makes about 16" at idle which I think is enough for the power brakes.

Here's my problem....When I press the brake pedal the pedal has a little bit of movement and the car starts to slow down. If I stand on the brake pedal the pedal just stops and won't go any further down and the brakes will not lock up. I'm wondering if the problem is in my brake pads and shoes as they are the premium organic type. The car brakes OK, but it seems like it should at least lock up the brakes and skid to a stop. Are there better pads than organic that will work on my daily driver camaro?

I called autozone and they have performance friction carbon metallic brake pads for 28.99 with a lifetime warranty....I guess that means that I never have to pay for another set of pads for as long as I own my car. When they wear out they give me a new set free. Are those good pads?

The new carbon/metallic pads work like a charm! I can easily lock up the brakes now!

Paul, glad the metalic pads are working out, but of course you have to change the disc and drums more frequently smile.gif Something has to wear, it's either the pads or the metal, take your choice :D

I wish they would make a compound that grabs well, but doesn't chew up the metal.
