OK,...her it is.
I switched over my 69 Z-28 to power steering...the gear box is a fast ratio box..put the 57/8 pitman arm on it put the hoses to the pump.now...I bought two used pumps along the way....first one was out of a 68 nova 6cly...with the gear box...the second set up was..???...but was a fst ratio box....it was suppost to be 69 camaro but found out it's pitman arm was chevelle or some thing else...her is my question finally.....the fitting on the pump(chevelle?)was a female type fitting.but the hoses I got was female....the nova pump was a male...so I switched the fittings....the two fittings are a little different on the inside..female has a larger diameter with a small side hole in the fitting, and the plunger is flat..the male fitting is a small tube inside(no side hole..)and has a slot cut into the plunger.....I install the fitting with OUT changing plungers...it doesn't work to good now do I just change the plungers around or do I change the pumps back to where they were? what do you suggest...when trying to turn the wheel it seems like it is low on fluid sound...what does the plunger inside do? any and all help will be appriciated...

I had the same deal. Late model pump to early gearbox. I put a 5/8 inverted flare to 6an adapter in the pump and 11/16 inverted flare to 6an in the gearbox. Then bought braided HP line and 2, 6an 90 degree elbows (earls twist lock). All is well now.

the pump is I think about the same year because of the type tank on it(small size I wanted that to keep the right look)...the gear box is fast ...when it was on the floor it turned 3 and a fraction turnsend to end....but installed it turns one turn left and one turn right..got to try and figure out the plunger and how this pump works......thanks mik's67.for the imput...

Use the "plunger" with the slot.
It controls pressure and if you don't have enough pressure you may have to remove one shim from behind the nut on it.

The nut is very very hard to remove.
You have to insert a drill bit in the side hole and clamp it in a vise after padding the vise jaws with aluminum. Use an old soda can if you don't have any aluminum.
For more flow, drill the orifice in the outlet fitting one size larger. Don't drill it out too large, the steering will get a little jerky (over responsive) if you do.
