I have Energy Susp control arm bushings. I've checked the archives but I got alot of different answers. I used the supplied gooey lube on all of them. I need to know if it's ok to set the j/stands under lower control arms to tighten them. I want to set them just under the shocks. I will also have j/stands under the rear and try to get it as level as possible. Sound like a plan? smile.gif
BTW: The reason I'm not sure about this is if I'm under the car with just snugged up C/A bolts and the weight of the car on the C/arms. Then I tighten them up and by chance a bolt would break while tightening. Don't really want to think about what happens next. graemlins/sad.gif

The suspension should be loaded as close as possible to the actual ride height. Which would mean as far out on the control arm as possibly safe....
Other than that, lots-a gooey lube!

If your stands will fit there, that will do. If not, you can use a piece of 2x4 to support the arm under the jack and proceed...
But watch out for the zerk fittings. The 2x4 could knock that little sucker right off with ease. I myself normally do this with the wheels off to create a little more room.

Yes, That was my plan. I thought about leaving the zerks out of low b/j's til I'm done torqueing.

Wanted to add a follow up here. I tightened the lower A arm bolts by setting the jack stands under the spindles all the way in w/out catching the lip of the dust cover. This worked good. My j/stands have an arch in the middle of them, and so that I would not marr the spindles up I set some old carpet and a rag in the arch of the stand. It worked out great. I had alot of room to get in there to tighten them up. I only torqued them to 80ft pounds is it ok or should I go back and add the extra 5? Thanks
