Can anybody tell me the torque values for the following suspension points that I'm putting polyureathane bushings at.
Upper A-Arms
Lower A-Arms
Subframe bushings-all locations
Rear leaf spring rear shackles and front mount bolt
Rear spring housing mounting pads
How much do you snug the sway bar "rubbers " down? Front and rear?
Somebody has posted that I don't want to tighten the A-Arms down finally until the car is on the ground with the engine I'm going to put in it because they might make it stand too tall if tightened down with the A-Arms drooping. Any other tidbits? please any and all comments will be greatly appreciated. pdq67

It shouldn't matter with the poly bushings. They don't get twisted like the rubber ones.

I hate to beat the drum again, but a factory assembly manual will list every critical fastener torque specification on the car. It's well worth the $20.

The 3 bolts for the front mounting bracket for the leaf spring are 25-30 ft.lbs. The bolt that goes through the bushing in that bracket is 75 ft. lbs. The body to subframe bushings bushing bolts are 85 ft.lbs. I think that the front ones are 50 ft.lbs. I'm at work right now, and am pretty sure of these. I got them from a 69-75 Chiltons manual that I have at home. As far as the shackle bolts are concerned, I think they're 50 ft.lbs., but I didn't have room to put a torque wrench on them anyway. Hope this helps. I'm sure somebody knows if I'm wrong, and can tell you the other ones if they will.

I looked at my Chiltons book again, the specs I posted yesterday were correct. Here are most of the others: Lower A-arm bolts - 85 ft.lbs. Upper A-arm shaft to frame - 80 ft.lbs. Upper control arm shaft nuts - 65 ft.lbs. Rear U-bolts - 40 ft.lbs.

Rons68,

Yea, I can believe 85lb-ft on the lower A-Arm bolts. It liked to put a "kink in my git-a-long" last night. I'm glad that I bought one of those cheap two foot long 1/2" breaker bars at the last swap meet I went to. pdq67
