I just installed the Baer serious street kit and I added a power booster, all new hard lines, and the round bullet style hold off valve for the front brakes. Baer told me I would be ok without a proportioning valve. Well under hard stops my rears lock up, so I want to add the pro valve. I do not want to modify my brand new two piece rear lines, so I would like to use the original style proportioning valve that goes under the drivers door, but I can't seem to find one. Would I be better off using an adjustable proportioning valve? Can they be mounted along the frame with no problems? Most of the adj ones I've seen are mounted near the master.

Yes, I installed a Wilwood adjustable valve where the 2 pieces come together, and made a simple L bracket that attaches to the subframe.

I bought the wilwood adj proportioning valve, but the valve says it fits 1/8 npt. Did you guys have to buy fittings to in order to mate the pro valve with the hard lines or does the it just screw right in? If so, what size fittings are needed? I bought the two piece factory correct size lines from Right Stuff but I'm not sure the size of the fittings.

My adj prop valve from Baer had adapter fittings to screw into the APV, the stock brake fittings then fit right into them.

Any auto parts store has the male 1/8" NPT-to-female SAE inverted flare adapter fittings in their Weatherhead fitting cabinet. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks guys. I'll just have to wait and see what the wilwood valve comes with. If it doesn't come with adapter fittings, I know what to get now.

I think you have 1/4" line to the rear. the adj prop valve comes with fittings for 3/16" lines. The in and out of the prop valve are pipe thread and there is no compression fitting in them.

When you get the adj prop valve take the fittings that come with it with you when you go looking for the right fittings for your lines. The larger ones in this pic are what I got to install mine but I put it under the master cyl and above the distribution block. Had to fab 1 section of 1/4" line from the valve to the dist block to hook it up. The rear line moved up to the valve and the. No stock lines were damaged or cut in this process.

I had to go to a brass fitting and hyd specility shop to find the fittings. the parts stores around here only carried sections of pre-cut lines with fittings and flares already done and had very little in the way of fitting selection. John it must be nice to have decent parts stores around you. I guess I'm lucket to be in a town large enough to have speciality shops, it's just finding them...

Hopefully yours, as my Baer one did, will come with the correct 1/4"/NPT adapter. My install couldn't have been easier.
