Single piston? or origonal 68 four piston?
You can machine your spindles. I have a photo of the spindles and other brake parts on my web page.
Look on the vintage trans am page.

There are several car's brackets that will fit such as Chevelle to 72 or Nova. The list has been posted not to long ago in this section.

DISC BRAKES THAT WILL FIT FIRST GEN CAMAROS
You can use the spindle, caliper, bracket, or rotor from:
Apollo 73-74
Buick Special 69-72
Camaro 69
Chevelle 69-72
Firebird 69
Grand Prix 69
Grand Prix 70-72
Monte Carlo 70-72
Nova 69-74
Olds F85 69-72
Omega 73-74
Sprint gmc 71-72
Tempest 69-72
Ventura II 71-74
They must be disc brake equipped of course. I believe discs became standard in 1970.
Some of the cars listed have the caliper forward of the spindle. You must swap side for side placing the Caliper to the rear of the spindle on the Camaro. And use your Camaro steering arms.
This is a very complete list. I see the GMC Sprint is listed, I think the El Camino of the same year should fit too, but I don't know for shure.
I've excluded pre 69's because they used 4 piston calipers, but the rotors and spindles would work. Of course they are very scarce as discs were optional.

Andy, definately check out Davids homepage, he's really done his homework on this conversion. I've seen the brackets advertised in the different aftermarket companies catalogs. Best thing to do is check the local wrecking yards for cars that fall into Davids list.

Elkys will work also.

Thanks for the input Bryan, my Hollander manual doesn't list the El Camino for some reason.

I got a couple of single piston caliper bracket part numbers off the ones I have.
5463449-L (badly corroded, some numbers might be wrong.
5488423-R (good number)

I think they are out of stock, but try em at a gm dealer.

hi all,

just pulled some spindles and calipers from a '70 chevelle 4 door for a bud in LV building a '67. i know that everything between the ball joints are the same, but is the booster and master the same? i also grabbed the porportioning valve and some small valve next to the master, but want to know if my friend will need the booster and master. thanks, Jesse

Does anyone know about the newer cast calipers if the ball joints will fit the 69. I have heard of the newer balljoint fitting the 69 arms. anyone know details?

The cast spindles won't fit on a first gen camaro. They will fit a chevelle with a shorter upper A frame.
The steering arm is wrong for a first gen camaro and it's cast into the spindle.
