What would be the best vehicle to pull a proportioning valve from for putting front disc on a 69 Camaro? Already have them, just didn't change out the proportioning valve. Still has the valve for manual drums. Also, what is the reason for using a different brake pedal as mentioned in a previous message?

try d & r classic or ricks 1st gen. for proportioning valve, new only 45$ or so,unless you need the stock one for originality.

You didn't mention if you changed the master cylinder - if not you will definitely need a disk brake unit. I got mine - along with the proportioning valve - from Vette Brakes in Florida. They also have a good tech guy who can walk you through all the little stuff and help you make it work right.

As far as the brake pedal goes, I usually use chevelle disks when converting camaros to disk and the disk brake pedal has a small metal tab to actuate the brake switch..on chevelles you need the tab because with drums the pedal hits the switch, but with disks the second hole in the pedal is used and the pedal no longer will reach the switch. Hence the tab..For the life of me I cant remember on the last camaro I did if I needed the tab or not, so I guess you will have to see what happens after you mount the booster. The easiest proportioning to find in the junkyard is a 71-72 monte carlo, it will work fine.

The tab isn't used on power disc cars - at least mine doesn't have/require one. AS far as the prop valve is concerned why don't you call Summit Racing and get one of their (actually Wilwood) adjustable ones. Dial it in and it will easily outperform the factory unit.

he's right about the tab.. i got a set of disc off another 69 .. but the switch would not reach.. i had to extend the switch.. but it will be a better mate with the tab.. it will work without it.. mine does too...
