Will the Polygraphite motor/tranny mounts deflect vibration or will it carry over to the car itself like solid mounts do? Do they squeek also?

ZZ430DropTop67RS Apr 9th, 02, 11:51 AM They work fantastic....you may notice some vibes, but you'll like them... PS, try a search on this topic, much info here. ------------------ Don~ ZZ430DropTop (http://hometown.aol.com/zz430droptop67rs) ~~~~and~~~~ 70 RS/Z28 (http://hometown.aol.com/performancespecs) 67 RS/SS Convertible, 70 RS/Z28 RickD Apr 10th, 02, 03:27 AM When I changed over to poly motor/tranny mounts I noticed a significant increase in vibration. It personally doesn't bother me but be forewarned. ------------------ Rick Dorion 69 RS Conv,355,M20,4.10's and I don't worry about stone chips ( yet ). camaro-69ss Apr 10th, 02, 04:20 AM Same here - switched to poly mounts this winter and there's a big difference. Not enough to want to remove them, but very noticable. ------------------ Jeff Supinski '69 SS - Hugger orange, White stripes, Ivory interior. ZZ4 w/M-20 gheatly Apr 10th, 02, 11:41 AM What is the point in switching to poly motor mounts? bonecrusher67conv Apr 10th, 02, 12:03 PM I bought a set of PST poly motor mounts primarily because they have interlocking metal tabs cast within the poly block that will keep the motor mount from separating. I know you could buy the 67 recall bracket and cable, but that still doesn't keep the motor mount from separating if it wants to. I've heard the poly transmission mount might be too high to add an aftermarket Hurst shifter bracket between it and the tailshaft, so I probably won't buy it. gheatly Apr 10th, 02, 01:48 PM All motor mounts sold now are the interlocking type. That's why I don't understand about the need to go poly. The interlocking tabs do not allow the engine to move much at all. ZZ430DropTop67RS Apr 10th, 02, 03:13 PM gheatly, I found the advantages to be more power to the rear wheels, I didn't realize how how much torque was being "wasted" and absorbed by the rubber mounts...they do make a difference. The interlocking feature of some rubber mounts only comes into play when the rubber is maxed out. Also, the clutch works much smoother with no chatter like in rubber mounts. ------------------ Don~ ZZ430DropTop (http://hometown.aol.com/zz430droptop67rs) ~~~~and~~~~ 70 RS/Z28 (http://hometown.aol.com/performancespecs) 67 RS/SS Convertible, 70 RS/Z28 V8 Apr 10th, 02, 05:44 PM So the body vibrates lot with the poly mounts? Like, can you actually see the car vibrate from inside or from outside to get an idea or you just kind of feel it at the steering wheel? I'm running polygraphite everywhere else, and I like the fact they last a lot longer...but I don't really want to feel the excess vibration. |
