I've been doing some thinking(scary) about converting to a late model power steering box. I was wondering if the late model hose flare(o-ring) is a standard flare that a local shop could fabricate ? I've got a junk set of late model hoses that I could scarf the metric fittings from. I think there would be enough material left on orig hoses to cut and refab ends to fit new box. Whatcha think?

Try Lee's Power Steering.

I think they sell this stuff.

I'm sorry I didn't answer your question.

Yes, I would think a hydraulic hose Sales and Repair Shop should be able to fix you right up.

Or you could swap out the fitting on the back of your PS pump with one from an 80's FWD GM car. They have metric inner threads with SAE outer threads that fit right into the back of your original pump.

Thanks for the fast responses. If I go with changing to the metric pump fittings, I will then use late model p.s. hoses, right? If so, which model hoses should I get that will be the right length, fit, etc. for the my stock rear steer set-up? Thanks again!

Yes you will use modern day hoses, but I am unsure of which application you should use since I did it on a A-body http://www.skullmobile.com/steering.htm
