I had my A-arms powdercoated recently and they look great. The outfit that did the powdercoating did not listen to my instructions to mask off the bores for the bushings and lower ball joints. I have been told that this is not good because this makes the bores smaller in I.D. and the bushings and ball joints can not be pressed in. Does anyone know if this is true? Should I try to remove the powdercoat from the bores and how should I go about it? I have read a couple of posts where guys have had little to no interference when the bushings and ball joints were pressed into place. I was thinking of hand sanding the bores but am concerned about removing ONLY the powdercoat. I don't want to end up with oversize bores. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

I just went though this last mo. I used a Dremmel tool with the corse sanding drum and just took it to bare metal along the entire inside circumference.

Actually, I was lazy and press fitted everything, pushing the powder coat out in the process.

The bores in my arms weren't perfectly round to begin with so I knew there'd be problems getting the shells in anyway.
After painting, I trued them up as best I could and then smoothed them with emery cloth.
Hey Rick, when are ya gonna put a site together so I can see that "lazily" put together car of yours? I don't think I've ever seen Gary's either.

Oh great, Joe. Now I have to learn how to do a site!
I should, though. Any recommendations on a hosting site? Is it fairly easy to do?

;)
Awwwww come on. I sense a little hesitation. I just want to see it basically. No need for a full fledged site or anything.
CarDomain or HobbyStage would suffice.
Or I could just see it at Rhinebeck or something. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Joe, are you going to the Syracuse Nationals? I'm hoping to get up to my brother's and go there. Last year was 6400 cars, this year they're projecting over 7000.
Sorry to take this thread off-subject!
