I was looking at my rear drum setup, and I got to thinking...why is it that most rear disc systems don't work with C-clip eliminators?

The eliminator boss (that holds the bearing) is smaller than the axle flange, so I don't see how that could cause interference. The axle flange also appears to be in the same offset position from the housing...

I'd like to get rear disc, but I'd prefer to stick with an OEM type setup, instead of an expensive Wilwood or Mark Williams deal.

pad knockback

with a c-clip rear the axle can move back and forth a bit. this can force the caliper piston back in and cause the pedal to be low/need pumped.

That's interesting.

Now, with my clip elminators, there is no axial play...less than there is with c-clips, anyway. Does that mean I could possibly use rear discs?

Nevermind, I found OE style disc brake setups that work with clip elminators. All is good now.

I read your first post wrong anyway. I thought you asked why not run rear disc with open c-clip rears. I dont know why not with eliminators.
