I'm trying to get my cowl induction working on my 69. i'm having problems finding out where the accelerator lever goes. can anyone help me out? thanks again scott

are you talking about the arm that attaches to the gas peddle ? that arm has a bracket welded on it to hold a switch, that will activate the solenoid up on the hood, which is attached to the flap.
is this what your talking about ?

yep, I should have called it the throttle arm, sorry!!! It is the arm that holds the switch that activates a relay for the the flap on the cowl induction. I thought it hooks somewhere on the throttle linkage from firewall to carb. ?????? or are you saying it hooks on the inside of car on gas peddle? that's what I don't know, I can't find a picture. thanks for the reply, scott

The part you have is the throttle arm, it is more or less a flat peice of steel maybe 1" wide by 7" long, with a couple of 45 degree bends in it. It slips over the pedal linkage just after it comes through the bushing in the firewall. The pedal linkage has a "D" shaped cross section to it, and the throttle arm has a "D" shaped opening on one end that gets tightened by a nut and bolt. The upper end of the throttle arm has a hole for the bushing that the threaded rod part (part that attaches the throttle arm to the carb linkage) of the throttle linkage fits into.

The throttle arm (the part you have) should have a small (maybe an inch square) tab with a 1/2" diameter hole welded on it about in the middle. This is the bracket that holds the switch that activates the solenoid in the cowl induction hood. When you mash the pedal the throttle linkage moves back closer to the firewall which depresses the plunger on the switch attached to the arm. The switch picks up the cowl induction relay mounted on the firewall above the heater box, which in turn operates the flapper in the hood.

If all you have is the little tab that the switch mounts into, then you have to pull out the throttle arm and weld the tab to the side of the arm. The mounting of the arm and the switch is shown in the ZL2 portion of the assembly manual. If you have to weld it on let me know and I'll measure mine from the top down so you can get it in the right position.

Scott, Was your car originally a V8 car? It it wasn't, and you are using a six cylinder pedal assembly with a throttle cable, you will not have the provision to mount the throttle arm to the pedal assembly and you will have to purchase a V8 pedal assembly. The mounting bracket for the pedal assembly on the firewall is the same for both, but the V8 has a extra 1-2 inches of rod to mount the throttle arm, and the six cylinder is just 'C' clipped after coming through the firewall.

i did some checking under the hood and i see how everything hooks up now. it is a v-8 car cause there is no c-clip. just have to take other arm off and slide new one on. thanks alot again guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. i will be getting assembly manual also, sounds like it's a must! scott
