do any of you know of or have the optional traction control on their car ? what it is, is a bottle that is mounted in the front of the car, with a hose that runs the length of the car back to the rear wheels with a nozzle on the end that sprays some kind of traction fluid. i thought speed racer was the only car that had something like this. was this common on cars back then ?

The option cosists of two aerosol cans of "Traction compound" mounted in steel cylinders above the back wheels. The aerosol cans look like whipped cream cans with a nozzle on the bottom. The system was vacuum operated from a switch on the dash under the steering column, and when the button was pushed vacuum was supplied to the bottom of the cylinders the cans sat in, and I think the vacuum pulled the cans lower into the cylinder so the traction compound sprayed out onto your wheels, just like when you press on a whipped cream can nozzle. It was available on other cars in 69 besides the Camaro, probably not many people ordered it. Total Camaro production was 118 cars.
