: Rear Discs With C-Clip Eliminators

I am new to the GM scene and I am in the process of continuing the transformation of a 1967 Camaro into a nasty Pro-Tourer. It has front discs from a 1969 Camaro, and rear drums. The rear-end is a 12 Bolt Camaro with Strange axles and "C Clip eliminators". Nobody (incl. Baer, MasterPower, Stainless Steel) makes rear disc brake conversion kits for these C-Clip eliminators. Does anybody know of a manufacturer that can make such rear brake system. Thanks.

I think Mark Williams and Wilwood may offer kits.

If you are going for the pro-touring car you may wish to re-think the c-clip eliminators. I have a Mark Williams set and they leak. My differential guy tells me all of them leak after 1500-2000 miles. They are really a drag racing part, not a street part. The true fix is a large Ford style bearing and new housing ends.

BradB,
You can buy a weld on end with a 12 bolt pattern on it. The bearing is a little smaller than the big ford but probably the same as what you are using now.
Then a standard 12bolt brake kit will fit.

Thanks, do you have a # for Williams? Your car looks great. I tried e-mailing you, but they got kicked back. My car is very similar so e-mail me if you want to talk. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by CarlC:

I believe they carry the housing ends also.

If not I know Currie does.

I have the 9 inch axel housings and I am very happy with them. Personally I wound not run a rear disk kit unless you have a positive axel retention devise. Other wise as in a c-clip car the axel can move in and out a small amount throwing off the caliper alinement. This is especially critical in 4 piston calipers as a fair amount of pad drag will be noticed. Also the small c-clip eliminator bearings that are commonly used are not capable of substaining high side loads resulting from high speed cornering. After converting to nine inch ends you will find that everybody has a brake kit for your car.

Thanks for the advice. I will research some more and perhaps switch back to the C-Clips.

Torker,
Are the ends you have considered big Ford or small Ford?
