View Full Version : DSE GROUP PURCHASE ON!!!
Okay spoke with Kyle over at DSE today. I originally asked for 20% discount but we settled in between kind of... Here are the details of this group purchase written by Kyle himself via e-mail this evening:
" Chris,
As far as the group purchase goes... If you can get a group of at least TEN people together we will support the Pro-Touring group with code PT903 when they call in or e-mail their orders. The group purchase will consist of the following discounts: 10% off Baer, BonSpeed, Budnik, and Vintage Air orders with free shipping and handling as usual. 15% off all DSE products, shipping and handling applies. Free T-shirt with orders of $500 or more. The special will run 9-9-03 to 9-19-03.
Thanks for the call today and coordinating the special with our company. We value the enthusiast on the Pro-Touring website and we look forward to meeting more of you at the SEMA Pro-Touring dinner.
Sincerely,
Kyle Tucker

BTW, mention the Chris or Pro-touring.com Group Purchase when ordering with DSE(DSE Group Purchase order code will be PT903)!
*DONT FORGET WE NEED 10 people!!*
*I also need a list of people REALISTICALLY ordering from DSE this week and next before the special expires!!*
Lets begin...
I am definitley ordering a mini-tub kit and possibly Baer brakes from DSE.
Meanchicken Sep 8th, 03, 08:40 PM I'd be interested in knowing the price on a set of Budnik Fontana FL's for my 68 Camaro. 17X8.5 with 5" BS for the front, and 17X9.5 with 5.5" BS for the rear. I'd be mounting 245/40's to the front and 275/40's to the rear and have been told this combo will work without any trickery such as minitubbing, or moving shocks inboard, etc. Just bolt them up, check for interference on lip and inner well and massage as necessary to stop the occasional rub.
Tim
I would recommend a 17x8 rim w/ 5" BS though to avoid any hastles; the rears sound perfect.
RickD Sep 9th, 03, 02:41 AM I am definately in for the steering box ( a new item Kyle's been testing ).
Scoop69RS-SS Sep 9th, 03, 04:57 AM You can add my name to the list right now. Firm. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I was planning on purchasing the DSE dashboard in two or three weeks. This is plenty enough reason to move the purchase in to now vs. later.
I need to talk to Scott and Bob Spears first and decide on left AC vent or no.
Rick.
choptop Sep 9th, 03, 08:38 AM I was just about to order a Vintage Air sure fit system for my car direct from Vintage. I tried calling DS&E but got no answer...sent an email asking about their list pricing on the kit. If they respond favorably I'm in! I'll confirm in this thread once I get the info.
Choptop, try DSE via PHONE again a couple of times until you get through...DSE gets overwhelmed w/ e-mails and tends to take a while getting back.
Later, Chris
choptop Sep 9th, 03, 09:08 AM Finally got them on the phone...their list price is actually better than Vintage! I'm in, graemlins/thumbsup.gif guaranteed.
camcojb Sep 9th, 03, 09:15 AM How many do we have? I need a steering box at least, already have most everything they sell!
Jody
RickD Sep 9th, 03, 11:13 AM I placed my order for the new steering box they offer.
choptop Sep 9th, 03, 02:02 PM I think we are up to at least five: Chris, Rick D., Rick, Scott (myself) and Jody. If Tim (Meanchicken) commits that'll be six. C'mon guys, everything is on sale!
X-22 Pilot Sep 9th, 03, 02:05 PM What is the details on the steering box? I was going to purchase an agr power steering box but would like more info on dse's steering box. Also do you know if Kyle has his solid bushing kit for the rear leafs yet?
thanks
Kelvin
Meanchicken Sep 9th, 03, 08:30 PM Got the price quote back. It's $1575 for the combo I want, and they said the combo will fit with only a possibility of having to massage the lip on the fender (varies car-to-car). I'm hedging on these Fontanas, the Edge from Centerline (a contact I met sez he could get me these for near 50% off retail if my combo is not too custom), or the wicked wheels I saw on the Rattlesnake looking "Streetfighter" Camaro in the May 2003 PHR Magazine if I could find out what they are. Anyone know this car???
Scoop69RS-SS Sep 10th, 03, 04:53 AM Jody,
Your projects are slowing down. You clearly need another car to do. :D
Hmmmmm, I didn't see a split bumper on your website...

Rick Yeah,
I've backed off the last couple of months on mine; kinda not in the mood if you know what I mean. Just renewed my interest a few days ago and am back in gear. I've had four 70-72 cars, couple of them RS's, but have really fallen in love with the 69's.
Jody
We have 2 guys that have placed an order already and at least 8 others commited to an order...so I think it looks good so far!
See the DSE GROUP PURCHASE Post on Protouring.com- in the 'Open Discussion' forum for more details on who is ordering what.
-Chris
choptop Sep 10th, 03, 08:49 AM Chris, are they already applying the discount to orders from people with the code? If that is the case I will place mine today or tomorrow!
RickD Sep 10th, 03, 08:52 AM When I called in, Lindsay said it was being applied and would ship today/tomorrow.
choptop Sep 10th, 03, 09:16 AM Thanks Rick, I just placed my order! Vintage Air is on the way! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Group purchases are great, thanks for sharing it Chris.
If possible it would be nice to mention that some of the sales are originating with the assistance of the members here on camaros.net - hey, we could all use a plug with manufacturers in case they start wondering where to spend their advertising dollars and which site to give future discounts to.
Scoop69RS-SS Sep 10th, 03, 11:12 AM Chris,
I'd like to accomodate Al's point.
Can I mention TC or will that derail the pro-touring discount agreement?
Rick.
Poncho Sep 10th, 03, 12:12 PM I'm ordering connectors from DSE on this GP.
Choptop! Would you be willing to let me cruise in your car with ya once or twice after the A/C is in? I'm on the fence about the setup and I've never been in a car around here with it working and running in our 100+ degree weather.
Yeah sure, you can say you're part of the "Pro-Touring.com & Team Camaro Group Purchase!" The more expoure this Group Purchase receives the happier Kyle and co over at DSE will be I'm sure...so its not a big deal.
I always though the 2 sites were related anyways...no?

DjD Sep 10th, 03, 12:29 PM Here's a direct link to the PT thread...

If I may offer some constructive comments. It looks like between the 2 sites this won't be a problem but what if after it's over and done on the 19th only 8 guys ordered from DSE. There would be some mighty PO'd guys if they lost their 10% - 15% and didn't get free shipping or what ever the deal was established. The vendor would also have second thoughts about setting it up again if the quota was not met.
This just leaves the door open for a lot of emotions, the vendor looks bad, the site and it's members look bad, you get the idea. Like I said it looks like it's all pulling off well so far but, I've seen one go bad on another site.
What I have seen on other sites is the guy that sets up the GP gets the quota commitment from the buyers before anyone orders from the vendor. Then contacts the vendor and is given an ordering time timeframe and code. Others are free to place orders and the actual discount is based on the total order (reason for code) place. Much harder for things to get ugly this way.
Anyway, I'm broke and just gave you guys my last .02...
graemlins/beers.gif
choptop Sep 10th, 03, 02:40 PM Sure Poncho, you can cruise along with me to check out the a/c. I'll keep you updated on the install- right now I'm already doing a complete electrical swap, serpentine bracket setup and new headers so I don't know how much hot weather will be left by the time I get it all installed and working. I am taking next week off work to get some of this project knocked out though...keep your fingers crossed!
DJD, yourpoint is well taken. After speaking with Kyle regarding the Group discount we primarily discussed the discount rate I was asking for (20%), the products we were looking to buy and the volume of orders involved. He then said he would e-mail me the verdict after he discussed it with his staff and would give me the rest of the details. He sends me an e-mail(the original post to this thread) around 9:30PM that night stating the terms of the Group Purchase and mentions in it that the GP will begin the next morning. I e-mailed him back asking him if he needs a confimed list of who is ordering or however else he wanted to proceed...but I never received a response back to date. Hence, the current situation. Its going well though...I think we have about 7 orders already and I haven't even ordered yet. ;)

DenRS Sep 11th, 03, 01:28 PM I'm looking for the Baer serious street kit. I just emailed them to see if they carry it and how much. If they carry it and the price is reasonable I'm in.
CarlC Sep 11th, 03, 03:57 PM I'll place mine in the morning.
Thanks for setting this up.
X-22 Pilot Sep 12th, 03, 01:09 AM DenRS,
Did Kyle give you a price on the baer serious street set-up?
thanks
Kelvin
RickD Sep 12th, 03, 02:50 AM You're much better off calling. They get swamped with email.
DenRS Sep 12th, 03, 11:42 AM X-22,
I received an email back from them. The serious street kit is $965 no shipping if you live in the US. They do not have any in stock, but they can have it dropped shipped to you directly from Baer. I think Baer sells it for $995 plus shipping. I'm placing my order today if they are still open or Monday.
DenRS Sep 12th, 03, 11:55 AM X-22,
I just placed my order with DSE. Sorry the Baer Serious Street kit was $995 but they offer free shipping plus they threw in a t-shirt. The discount dropped the price to 895.50. It will be about 4-6 weeks for delivery.
sherr20 Sep 12th, 03, 04:36 PM I will be buying a serious street kit also.
X-22 Pilot Sep 12th, 03, 09:14 PM I'll make my order on Monday.
thanks
Scoop69RS-SS Sep 15th, 03, 05:09 AM V8,
My order is in.
I wanted to say thank you for negotiating and setting this up. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Just last night Deb and I finished restoring the dash board. Repainted, new trim pieces, grab handle, fixed all the damn burnt out dash board lights... It looks great.
I can't wait to do it all over again with the DSE dash but by the time I finish designing and building it, I'm sure it will be next year.
Thanks again. graemlins/hurray.gif
Rick.
CarlC Sep 15th, 03, 07:33 AM One windshield wiper motor order placed.
My thanks as well for setting this up.
sherr20 Sep 15th, 03, 12:37 PM Just ordered the Vintage air sure fit system....saved $110, thanks.
Sure no problem...thank you as well. I placed my order today. I ordered a Baer Track kit with upgraded 2 piece 13" rotors and a Touring Plus kit with 2 piece 13" rotors. I also ordered a Mini-tub kit!
So far we have 16 confirmed orders!!! graemlins/beers.gif
Later, Chris
X-22 Pilot Sep 17th, 03, 01:05 PM Appreciate the group buy!!! Placed order for Baer front and rear brakes, wiper motor, body mount kit, and an adjustable proportioning valve. Kyle's customer service is awesome. Thanks again!
Kelvin
Poncho Sep 17th, 03, 01:46 PM My connectors are on the way graemlins/waving.gif graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/beers.gif
Zachary Vonler Sep 18th, 03, 12:21 PM Ordered subframe connectors and steering box and pump. Thanks for setting this up, saved me about $200!
Well its set. As of late Friday we had 28 confirmed orders !!! graemlins/hurray.gif graemlins/hurray.gif There may have been a few last minute orders(if so just post them). I just want to thanks all of you guys for making this work so well and smoothly by coming through and to Kyle and co. for working with us on this GP and taking the time answering questions. Kyle and I had figured in the beginning that if 20 people were interested, probably about only half would end up ordering. Instead, the DSE Group Purchase snowballed into something much more than we had expected, benefiting both us, Protouring.com/Team Camaro as well as DSE in the process. Sounds like DSE would be very open to doing something like this again with us in the future! I also want to thank members of Pro-Touring.com and Classical Pontiac for their participation as well! Good luck with your projects boys and thanks!
Cheers, Chris graemlins/beers.gif
