Hi there, I've been thinking about putting rear discs in my 67. I've heard that the flange on the rear end housing may have to be machined off. Is this true? Considering that the front brakes do most of the braking, is there any additional benefits to having rear discs?
Thanx...

it's not the flange on the housing that gets machined off, it's the outer diameter of the part of the axle where the wheel bolts to it that might need to be made a bit smaller to fit inside the rotor. no big deal.

I've put several rotors on my 12 bolt's axles and they all fit I suppose b/c of the rotor's having an inner chamfer, plus I did have my Machinist just kiss the axle bosses with a lathe tool to make darn sure of no hassles later.
I also measured a pair of my front hubs and the actual mount area is like .010", (maybe .020"), smaller from I expect wear only but it doesn't matter, again b/c of the chamfer thing not hitting that area!
However I did have to turn the O.D.'s of all my rotors and axles so the rotor hat's fit right which I think everybody has had to do.
