I am in the process of cleaning the under carriage of my 68 Z28,when I noticed the subframe or body bushings are badly worn.I was told that if I replace them, that I will have to realign all the body lines. Does this sound right? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The subframe bolts to the unibody with four mounts. There are two more mounts in front which bolt to the radiator support.
As long as those front mounts are not pulling down or pushing up enough to throw the fender alginment off, there will be no problems. The front mounts can allways be shimmed or the mounts shaved if there is a body alignment problem.

Hi David,
Thanks alot for the information.I didnt want to take a chance on messing up something. At the same time I like to do what i can myself. Is there a torque for the bushings? And is there anything I need to lookout, or be aware of while changing them?

finn,

Only loosen one side at a time and get a big pry bar 2ft 4x4 and some 2x4's. Go to search area there is all kinds of info on this including torque settings. Search under this forum and body forum.

Here is a good thread on how I swapped out my bushings: Bushing swap (http://www.camaros.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=005559#000003)
