It's been talked about lots both here and at Pro-Touring.com. Do a search of the archives.

There are some drawbacks like ground clearance and oil pan clearance problems, plus angularity of the steering shaft joints.
I also heard it doesn't work with a big block.

I may be wrong, but, I believe that NPD advertises some sort of bolt in deal. Let me check.....yep, page 47 in the 2002 catalog with the gold 69 and black 81. Don't ask me if it fits, works or if it is worth the $995. Says it takes 3 hours to install and is available in manual and power versions. Doesn't have a manufacturer listed but you can see a "Steeroids" sticker on the parts. Let us know if you spring for it and if it works out.

The guys on the Vette forum just did a group purchase on the Steeroids kit. It has only received positive feedback so far.

I think he's asking about a front steer rack and pinion setup, not the rear steer "Steeroids" unit mentioned above.

They did this to get the steering gear out of the way for an LS1 install. Actually, the work was done by BRP in Georgia and requires modifying the subframe slightly. They now sell kits/modify your subframe.

I also saw a homegrown front rack setup on a 69 and a SCCA event once in New Orleans but didn't get to talk to the guy about how he did it.

OH, you meant the "front" rack and pinion set-up and not the rear set-up? The unit that I had mentioned is the front rack. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
