I am considering converting my 4-wheel manual drum to manual disc. I would also like to lower the car, as it sits like stock which looks far too high.

All the conversion kits now offer 2" dropped spindles as an option. Should I get them. They appeal because I am happy with the stock handling and I will not need a realignment (in theory).

My concern is about fit: will the tie rod mount to the steering arm exactly? Will the dropped spindles fit 100% like the original spindles?

has anyone used these yet? I was thinking of going with MP Brakes. Stainless Steel Brakes is a 2nd choice.

You might want to try www.superiorspindles.com (http://www.superiorspindles.com) - they have some coil over dropped spindles. The advantage of dropped spindles is that the only thing that is moved is the "axle" - all other parts bolt in their stock position.

I haven't used the dropped spindles, but if you change the spindles to dropped, get the taller ones to improve the geometry.
I don't think there is any way you can replace the spindles without having the alignment checked.
If you have it checked and they don't have to do anything, they shouldn't charge you. Ask the shop.
Usually just lowering helps the geometry, but the car must be re aligned.
Lowering with a drop spindle of stock length would theoreticaly allow you to lower the car without having to re align it. But if ANYTHING changes, it will throw the alignment and toe off.
