I am sorting out my new camaro and have some questions regarding the front and rear suspension.

FRONT: The front outer tie rod ends are rubbing a big groove in my ftont tires. Is this a geometry problem up front or is it beacuse I am running a 245-60-14 tires on 14 inch rims with 4" of backspacing.

BACK: The rear of the car has a ladder bar system neatly done but it also has the mono leafs and the rear isn't floated. I can either float the rearend, go the coli over route, or just unbolt the ladder bars and go with Hotchkis springs and a set of Cal Trac bars, any opinions?

Thanks, Erik

Front rim back spacing is off as well as the tires are probably too big.

I don't know if a set of short bolt-on spindle steering arms will help your rubbing or not, that is if your car has longer ones on it now??

As for the rear, do what you want, but you do need to float the rearend b/c of the ladder bars pivoting points not being identical to the front leaf spring pivot points.

She should be binding up big-time when your suspension try's to go up and down!!

I ran those old bolt on ladders years ago on a '68. They are junk!! As pdq says, they will bind the rear up BIG TIME unless you install a floater kit. My car was awful on the street and the strip with this set-up!! And as a side benefeit, it rode like a buckboard with an oak board for a seat!

I would go the Hotchkis route. Unless you are planning to exclusively drag race the car you might find that the Cal-Trac's aren't even needed. The Hotchkis rear springs, like most replacement multi's, have a second leaf that wraps around the front spring eye to prevent wheel hop.

Thanks for the responses. The ladder bar system that is on the car is completly welded system. Its done nice and right they just never finished the job. Hotchkis springs would be cheaper then coilovers but I kinda like the idea of coilovers. I just don't have much experience with them at all.

Thanks, Erik
