I'm gathering up the parts for converting manual to power steering. My power steering pump pulley has one groove, my alternator has one groove, my water pump pulley has one groove and my crank pulley has two grooves.

Can I make this work? or do I need to reconfigure it?

I was thinking I could spin the alt using a belt around the alt, water pump & crank. And the other belt from the power steering pump to the crank.

Thanks for your reply graemlins/waving.gif

Wayne, I believe that to be correct. Minus the A/C that is how my '67 is set up.

Thanks Bob. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I just wasnt sure if I had to add a two groove water pump pulley and go around that also. I talked to a gearhead at work today and he said the same, "that is how is supposed to be".

Wayne,

I just got through doing this conversion on my '68 and what you said is correct, but mine required a 3 groove pulley on the crank just to get the pulleys to line up. So now I have the Alt belt on the 1st groove (closest to the engine), nothing on the 2nd groove, and the PWR STEERING PUMP on the 3rd groove of the crank pulley.

My conversion required a third pulley like houston68 said. The third pulley bolted onto the existing crank pulley. Everything lines up well enough to spin the motor to 6500rpm and not throw any belts.

Thanks guys. I sure do appreciate your input on this as it is avoiding possible setbacks during assembly.

Any good referances to where I can get a 3 groove pulley? eBay ??

No, it's a crank two groove pulley and the add-on third pulley to make the three groove pulley you are talking about..

Alan Groves sells the third add-on pulley..

I got my 3rd add-on pulley from Classic Industries. I believe the part number is G7190. That's for a '68, with a 350, and a short water pump. It was around $40, so you may be able to find one cheaper elsewhere...
